It’s been quite the natural disaster-filled week here in DC. On Tuesday, there was an earthquake that measured 5.9 on the Richter scale. I was at work in the AU Career Center at the time, and the building felt very rumbly and none of us knew what was going on. When someone in the office shouted “Earthquake!” it made sense because of all of the rumbliness, but then again, an earthquake in DC? Seriously? Luckily, there was no extensive damage or anything catastrophic as a result of the quake (at least, as far as I know).
That Tuesday also happened to be my 21st birthday, which culminated in a lovely evening spent with my closest friends at The Cheesecake Factory. It was such a fun evening as we all sat around the table and talked and ate delicious, delicious food. It was definitely a wonderful birthday.
My plans for the weekend are pretty much to stay in as much as possible and survive the wrath of Hurricane Irene. It’s projected to hit the mid-Atlantic region tonight, so I’m hoping that DC will emerge from the storm in one piece. There’s not much that can be done besides stock up on provisions and wait out the storm. That, and wish I had a pair of rain boots because there probably will be a ton of flooding in the area from all the rain!
