Weekly Wrap-up #17 (powered by reunions, halloween, and the first snow of the season)

As I write this, I am seeking comfort in the warmth of my apartment while I watch snow flurries fall outside my window. The first snow of the year has arrived and it’s not even November yet. How depressing is that?! I feel like DC hasn’t really experienced fall yet. It just went from super hot to persistently rainy and now, to snow. :(

Still, bad weather aside, it’s Halloween weekend! I am dressing up as Waldo from Where’s Waldo this year. It’s a pretty easy costume to put together (much love to my roommate for lending me a pair of Waldo-esque glasses) and it’s a recognizable one. Even though I’m not big on Halloween, I do enjoy the Halloween spirit. Last night my boyfriend and I went to dinner in Georgetown and our restaurant went all-out for a Halloween atmosphere. I really enjoyed the ambiance (and the food!); I missed it when I was abroad last year.

Earlier this week I met up with my former senior kindergarten “buddy” from high school and her family. In my high school, every senior was assigned a junior or senior kindergartener as a buddy. Throughout the year, we’d have events together, and every week during the twice-weekly morning assembly, the kindergarten buddies would sit on the senior’s laps (seating shortage). It was really great to see her after nearly (over?) four years, and I had a fun time showing them around AU.

Speaking of reunions, one of my good friends from my abroad program this weekend is visiting DC. I had brunch with her and some other friends this morning and it was so good to see her! Now if only my abroad friends who study in schools along the West Coast would come out East and visit me…

  2. I think it’s WAY too early for snow. I hope it gets a bit warmer for you.

Your costume idea is so awesome! What a super idea! But will people be able to spot you in a crowd? That’s the question.

  4. I was definitely shocked when my parents told me about the snowstorm. I hope that nature’s wrath does not continue for much longer!

Have fun on Halloween! I hope that the snow doesn’t get in the way.

Also, you should totally come travel to the west coast if you haven’t already yet. :P Weather’s great!
