Weekly Wrap-up #18 (powered by a Skype interview, basic accounting, and looking forward to the weekend)

I had my first ever Skype interview last week. It was the second part of a multi-stage application and interview process for a fellowship, and I think I did pretty well. I’ve done phone interviews before, and really this Skype interview was no different as there was no video, just audio. I think I find out next week whether or not I progress to the next round; I’ll keep everyone posted.

I had a marketing exam for my marketing class that’s specifically designed for communication students. I had to learn basic accounting for that exam, which I was not at all happy about. Luckily, one of my roommates is an accounting major and she helped me study. I can now recite the components of a balance sheet, and income statement, the accounting equation, and how to calculate the cost of goods sold. Hopefully this is information that will help me at some time in my life, despite having no interest whatsoever to pursue a career in anything related to accounting. (My lack of math skills makes that career choice an impossible one!)

From mid-October onwards, it’s been a series of stressful weeks with some big paper due one day and a big exam another day. However, next week I can (hopefully) breathe easy before the mad rush of completing my assignments due before Thanksgiving break. I’m going to relax and enjoy this weekend as much as I can. I have a lot of fun and/or relaxing things planned, and I’m going to relish every moment of it. Finally, a weekend where I don’t have the weight of a research paper or upcoming exam on my shoulders!

  1. I always wanted to do a Skype interview or phone interview so I could either show up with no pants (hey, they couldn’t see anyway) or just in my pajamas.

Good luck with your interview! I hope you make the cut! :)

    Enjoy your stress free weekend!
