Weekly Wrap-up #21 (powered by Thanksgiving)

This week was all about Thanksgiving. It was perfect. Really, just perfect. There’s so much I could say about it, but most of it is personal or little things that would only mean a lot to me. So, I will sum up my holiday in one word: perfect. (Oh, and the pecan pie was a hit.)

Now I’m sitting at the airport, waiting at my gate for my delayed flight. Apparently the plane “is broken.” At least, that’s what the guy behind the counter said, and that’s all the information he gave. He also was unwilling to put a time on just how delayed the flight is going to be, which does not bode well. I was counting on sleeping on the flight (it was supposed to leave at 7:20a.m.) but now it looks like I’ll be one of those passengers slumped over her bag at the gate in a half-asleep, half-awake daze. While I am very glad that U.S. Airways did not clear a broken plane for flying, it is a little bothersome to not know if I’m going to spend the day camping at the airport. At least there’s free Wi-Fi?

(Also, and this is very much a personal thing, but I feel like the guy I am sitting across from at this gate keeps looking at me strangely. Ordinarily I’d feel self-conscious and wonder if there’s something on my face or if my shirt is inside out or whatnot, but right now I can’t even bring myself to care. Staying awake is hard enough, I don’t have the energy to worry about how I look in this state.)

ETA: I’ve been rebooked on a flight that leaves at 1:00p.m. and connects in Philadelphia. I’m killing time at the airport in Indianapolis in a Wolfgang Puck Cafe and attempting to start on my Chinese final paper. Ah, such an eventful Saturday…

  1. I could never understand how planes could spontaneously “break” like that when they’re scheduled for flights well ahead of time. It makes you wonder what prevents them from spontaneously “breaking” in mid-air. Actually, probably best not to wonder about that.

    Incidentally, happy belated Thanksgiving!

  2. Free wi-fi at airports is the best. Unfortunately, they tend to cap it at 30 mins. (if that), so I never enjoy it past checking my Facebook and email.
