A Public Service Announcement

I know that I have been MIA recently, and that my blog posts this semester have been severely lacking. For that I am sorry – I could not have prepared myself for how insane this semester has been. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been great, but I am constantly running around, searching for more hours in my day because I have so much going on.

My computer was getting fixed the last week, so I haven’t been keeping up with correspondence as well as I have been. I have a ton of emails in my inbox to reply to, as well as other online things to attend to. However… this week is finals week, and I have two huge finals to prepare for as well as a research paper to write. To top that all off, I have to pack up my things in my apartment and prepare to go on an adventure in southern China and vacation in southeast Asia. This all has to be done by Saturday. (Let’s not get into how much of this I have already done, or have yet to do – that would just be depressing.)

So, this is a long and roundabout way of saying that I haven’t forgotten this blog, nor have I forgotten the awesome people who have emailed me. I’ve just got a lot going on and am trying to juggle everything at once, with the hope of at least getting a little bit of sleep each night. ‘Tis the life of a student during finals week!

Back to the Grind

Class all day, homework all evening, studying all night… ah, my second semester in Beijing has truly begun.

It’s a strange feeling of deja vu. It’s a new semester, with a higher level of language classes and new textbooks and new classmates and new kids in the program – but at the same time, it’s like going through the motions all over again. The only thing that’s really different is the people; I miss my good friends from last semester. Oh, and the weather is different too. Beijing is cold!

If last semester was anything to go by, I’m going to be run off my feet in the next few weeks until everything feels routine-like. Or, I decide it’s time to give myself a break and give myself more time to go out and be social rather than be shut up studying all the time. It’s also hard to find time to spend on the Internet when it’s even more difficult to find a good Internet connection. Oh, China.

I seem to have already lost the ability to string together two coherent sentences in English. My goodness. I’m not even sure what I’m trying to say. Except that hi, I haven’t died, I’m just insanely busy as per my life in Beijing!!

Fall Semester Abroad: Complete

As of 11:45a.m. today, I have officially completed my fall semester abroad.

It’s so surreal, to be finished with such an intensive semester. No more 听写 (tīngxiě / dictation) to prepare for, no more 生词 (shēngcí / new words) to learn, no more new 语法 (yǔfǎ / grammar) structures to learn… the semester is over. I’m done.

What a scary thought.
